Ocean Beach who?
Where the heck is Ocean Beach, New Jersey? I'm not sure I should tell you. Myself and the others who know about this gem of a place may not want to share our secret. Tucked away on a barrier island somewhere between the more notable Seaside Heights and Point Pleasant Beach is a little slice of happiness called Ocean Beach. A throwback to simpler, more peaceful times, Ocean Beach is a summer migration spot for those lucky enough to know about it. Not much has changed in Ocean Beach over the last 60 years. The roads in Unit III are still sand, meaning you can still walk out your cottage door barefoot and right up onto the beach. The homes are still small, one story cottages; you won't find any McMansion's in Unit III blocking these ocean views. There are no group rentals or drunk spring breakers, just families and friends enjoying the beach and re-connecting with each other. It is refreshing to know that in these stressful - always on the go times, a place like this exists. Many of the vacationers in Ocean Beach have been coming here for years, and I do mean years. A lot of people were brought here year after year as a kid and now continue the tradition with their own children. If Ocean Beach wasn't part of your family tradition, then you probably heard of it by word of mouth through blissful murmurs of close friends who enjoyed the experience. There are even 'pockets' of places where the legend of this delightful place has spread like wildfire. Pearl River, NY happens to be one of these 'pockets'. It almost seems like they have a town get-together 100 miles South at the Jersey Shore. The fine folks of Pearl River definitely knows where the heck Ocean Beach, New Jersey is.
